Take This Job & Love It is the second episode from the first season of Squidbillies. It first aired on October 23, 2005 on Adult Swim.

Synopsis[]

Early seeks employment in a difficult job market.

Plot[]

Early is fired from his job selling mattresses and must find new employment to avoid violating his parole. In the end he is hired as CEO of Dan Halen Sheetrock International, who, as Dan Halen describes, is responsible for any lawsuits that may, and in fact are, being pressed against the company.

  • This is the very first episode in the series to feature a Early Trucker Opening because it was absent in the pilot episode.
  • Granny Cuyler doesn't appear in this episode, marking her very first absence.
  • The Pocket Surgeon and Zesty Ranch Baby Tacos commercial use the production music Countdown by Killer Tracks/Universal Production Music and photoshopped baby respectively much like the Baby Hammock and Baby Death Trap commercials from the pilot episode.
  • If you look at the articles and quotes on the newspaper of Early becoming CEO of Dan Halen Sheetrock International, they say:

  • The title of the episode is a reference to the song Take This Job and Shove It.
  • Mattress Christ has a sign that reads "The Last Temptation Of Price!". This is a reference to the 1988 film The Last Temptation Of Christ.
  • The experiences section on Early's hat-shaped résumé references the Hank Williams Jr. songs, both "A Country Boy Can Survive" (skin a buck, run a troutline) and "All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight".
